NOW SOLD Laurel Lamp Co Dome / Tulip Chrome Floor Lamp with Frosted Glass Shade circa. 1950’s

NOW SOLD here is a nice example of the iconic Mushroom / Tulip Floor lamp by the Laurel Lamp company circa. the 1950’s /60’s (fully labeled) . Although I have not been able to find out who designed this lamp, they were clearly influenced by the works of Eero Saarinen and his Tulip series of table and chairs. This is most evident in the tapered(with a unique sparkle like finish on the base) lamp base which is very similar to the bases of the Tulip chairs and tables. Chrome finish and frosted glass dome shade give this lamp a very unique appearance, and throws a very appealing light. The lamp measures approximately 5 foot in height. No cracks or chips in the shade, and the chrome is in nice shape with no flaking. This would be the focal point of most any mid-century modern / atomic age home. NOW SOLD

SOLD Pair of Royal Metal Co. Industrial Arm Chairs.

NOW SOLD For sale here is a vintage pair of Retro style Arm / Club Chairs. These were made by the Royal Metal and Manufacturing Company of Canada, who were a contemporary of such companies as Steelcase (best known for there iconic Tanker Desks and chairs ) and Shaw Walker who were on the cutting edge of Industrial Furniture Design during the 1940’s and 1950’s. These have all the hallmarks of good industrial / Machine Age design. They have a solid stance which leans back slightly giving the illusion that the chair is about to get up on it’s own and walk away. Very simple lines, and easy to maintain surfaces. In this case The one piece arms and legs are made out of polished stainless steel, with early plastic (possibly Bakelite) arm rests and a mottled reddish brown vinyl upholstery. Each chair measures as follows : Seat height is 18 inches, arm height is 25 inches, back height is 32 inches. Chair width is 21 inches at it's widest part, and the chair stands 28 inches in depth (front to back). The chairs are in very nice condition. The only real flaw that I can see is one small split of the vinyl (less that ½ inch long) at the seat front where your legs hang over the seat, and a small scuff at the top/back headrest area. Neither are very noticeable but are mentioned for accuracies sake. I took pictures of the fronts back and sides (including one of the small split) for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. This would greatly compliment any Eames Era Mid Century modern or Industrial / Machine Age living space. Or add a slightly retro accent to any contemporary room. Please feel free to email me any questions you may have, or for more pictures. NOW SOLD

THIS IS NOW SOLD Vintage TEAK 9 Drawer DRESSER Eames Era DANISH Modern Style

THIS IS NOW SOLD For sale here is a vintage 9 drawer dresser done in a rich teak wood. The piece features a very unique style of handle, and nice tapered legs. The piece measures 6 feet long, 29 ½ inches tall and is 18 inches deep off the wall. This has lots of storage space. The piece does have some regular use wear to the legs and edges There is a small sliver of veneer missing from the back side, horizontal edge. It’s is not overly noticeable, and I have taken this into account when pricing. It does not have a back on this piece. The top and drawer fronts look really good. I have not found any labels on this piece, but it does features functional austere design that is so typical of the Danish / Scandinavian Modern design movement. It also would greatly compliment any Eames Era Mid Century modern living space, or adding a slightly retro accent to any contemporary room.

THESE ARE NOW SOLD Pair of Giancarlo Piretti Alky Lounge Chairs and Ottoman Italian Mod.

THESE ARE NOW SOLD Here are a matching pair of the Giancarlo Piretti designed Classic Slipper / Lounge chairs, and an exceptionally rare matching ottoman. These were designed in 1969 and the line is named Alky . Although Piretti is best known for his Plia folding chair, these chairs features the same vision and quality. The flowing lines and brushed aluminum feet, bring to mind the work of Pierre Paulin. These chair are upholstered in a velvet type fabric, that has a very retro look. However they are great candidates for re-upholstery in an updated contemporary fabric of your choice. There are no holes or tears in the fabric on any of these pieces. Measurements for the chairs are as follows : 25 inches wide, 33 inches deep off the wall, the seat height is 16 inches while the back height is 28 inches. The Measurements for the ottoman are 24 by 24 inches wide (the design pinches like a bow tie near the middle slightly) and 15 inches high. Currently there are 3 different pairs on 1stdibs.com ranging in price from 1800.00 to 2400.00 per pair. I have never seen the ottoman offered for sale before and I imagine it is quite scarce. THESE ARE NOW SOLD 4 1960s CHROME and ORANGE VINYL Kitchen CHAIR SET

THESE ARE NOW SOLD For sale here is a matching set of 4 CHROME KITCHEN DINNING Chairs. The original vinyl upholstery is definitely something from the 60’s era featuring a bright orange color. They are free from tears and rips that are so common with this era of chairs. The chrome is in nice shape, but could do with a polish to get that “wow factor” look. I originally had these on my web site last years for 325.00 for the set. This is a re-list at a greatly reduced sale price. I took pictures of the fronts back and sides. These would greatly compliment any Eames Era Mid Century modern living space. Or add a slightly retro accent to any contemporary kitchen or dinning area.

THESE ARE NOW SOLD! Pair of 1960s Tubular Steel Chrome Sling Chairs

These are now sold! For sale here is a matching set of 2 Chrome Lounge Chairs. They are exceptionally comfortable. They feature a chrome tubular frame with a brown corduroy sling fabric seat, upon which two brown corduroy fabric pillows are suspended. Although I can not find a label on these, the person I bought them off does recall buying them in the late 1960’s. Although they are clearly a 60’s design, whoever did design them clearly was influenced by Marcel Breuer ‘s Wassily Chair (for the Bauhaus) and Le Corbusier Basculant Chair. If you are handy with a needle and thread or are looking for a great set of candidates for re-upholstery to a more contemporary fabric these are the pair you. The fabric at the arms of the chairs has torn, but could be stitched back together fairly easily, if you decided to keep the original upholstery. The chrome is in excellent shape. I listed these on my website last year for 375.00 for the pair. This is a re-list at a greatly reduced sale price. These would look fantastic if re-upholstered in a more contemporary fabric or leather. I took pictures of the fronts back and sides. These would greatly compliment any Eames Era Mid Century modern living space. Or add a slightly retro accent to any contemporary room. SOLD!

THESE ARE NOW SOLD Two Vintage 1971 HERMAN MILLER Upholstered EAMES Arm CHAIRS

THESE ARE NOW SOLD Up for sale is a matching pair of upholstered arm chairs designed by CHARLES AND RAY EAMES and produced by HERMAN MILLER . The fabric is a sort of Salmon color with the fiberglass shells being black in color. The shells display that nice look of the visible fibers that you don’t get with the newer versions of the Eames shell chairs (I think the new ones are plastic rather than fiberglass) These are vintage pieces that have been well loved, both could use a good cleaning. One chair has a seam tear on the seat, and both have wear to the legs, and missing sliders. These originals are getting harder and harder to find. Just take a stroll down Queen St. West and try and find a store that has some (especially at this price!). Here is your chance to pick up a pair of classic Mid-Century design from one the best designers of the 20th century.

NOW SOLD 4 Kai Kristiansen DANISH MODERN Style ARM CHAIRS Solid TEAK & Labeled

For sale here is a set of 4 of Vintage Danish Modern Style Solid Teak Arm Chairs. They have a very faint Made in Denmark stamp on them. I can find no discernible makers mark (there are some faded stamps but I can’t make them out). However I have seen these identical chairs attributed to the Designer Kai Kristiansen several different places on the internet. . Here are a set on 1st dibs. http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_item_detail.php?id=385743&cur_tab= (yes that is 2600.00 for six). Original upholstery is in nice shape, no tears ect. Three of the chairs are in excellent shape, but one has a large chunk of one of the back rails broken off. It is still structurally sound, but would need repair to look perfect again. Fantastic Arch arms. The wood shows some slight character wear from use over the years, but over all is in very nice condition, with a the great patina you expect from great vintage pieces. The design and form of the chairs screams classic Scandinavian design. Don’t miss out. They would greatly compliment any Eames Era Mid Century modern or Danish modern living space. Or add a slightly retro accent to any contemporary room. $ SOLD

These are now SOLD 1960s 4 Saarinen Style Tulip Chairs Labeled BURKE

THESE ARE NOW SOLD For sale here are 4 vintage Chairs manufactured by the Burke co. of Dallas Texas. I have not been able to find the name of who designed these chairs for Burke, but they were clearly influenced by the work of Eero Saarinen and his iconic tulip chairs that he designed for Knoll. The 2 Arm chairs are model #116 and the 2 Armless chairs are Model # 115. These chairs are of similar high quality, but feature their own unique propeller pedestal foot design. Perhaps the most desirable thing about these chairs is that slightly modified versions of these were used on the Original Star Trek television show as the chairs used on the bridge of the USS Enterprise. In the original Pilot for the show (the one without William Shatner) a set of these chairs un modified were used as the bridge chairs. This web site http://www.cloudster.com/Sets&Vehicles/STEnterprise/Burke_Chair/BurkeChairsTop.htm shows that way the chairs were modified and shows the chairs in use on the Star Trek Set. I have also seen these Burke chairs used on different episodes of Mad Men. The condition on this set is nice. Some scuffs and a little paint loss to the bases, but no cracks or breaks to the bases or seat. The fiberglass has stayed very white on each chair. No cushions with these, but there are reproduction Tulip chair pillows available on ebay that would more than likely look great on these chairs. Each chair does feature the Burke label. Each chair does swivel, and the mechanism is very smooth. These chairs are a far more affordable option to the Saarinen Tulips chairs, and add a unique look with their propellor bases. If you are a Star Trek fan these are a must have item. They would look great in any dinning room, or office or your own personal USS Entreprise Bridge room/ Functional austere design that is so typical of the 60’s era. They also would greatly compliment any Eames Era Mid Century modern living space, or adding a sligtly retro accept to any contemporary room
